On a Fender Mustang LT25, select the 70S UK CLN amp model and start at Gain 3.5, Treble 5, Bass 5 and Middle 8, with the neck pickup for body, bridge if the lead needs to cut.

Which Fender Mustang LT25 amp model for Comfortably Numb?

70S UK CLN. Gilmour played the solo through a 100-watt Hiwatt, and Fender's 70S UK CLN is inspired by the original 100-watt Hiwatt DR103, which it calls the classic cleaner-tone British stack. The LT25 has the record's fuzz as well: Fender describes BIG FUZZ as inspired by the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. This is one of the few songs where the amp and the pedal are both in Fender's list.

Pick the amp model with the encoder first, then set the knobs. The LT25 has knobs for Gain, Volume, Treble, Bass and Master Volume, and no Middle knob. Fender's manual says Middle is set only from the encoder: press it on the amp model, scroll to MIDDLE and turn.

Each preset has four effect slots, STOMP, MOD, DELAY and REV, and each slot holds one effect. Fender's manual gives the signal path as instrument, stompbox, modulation, amplifier, delay, reverb, speaker. To fill a slot, press the encoder on it and turn to the effect.

What the LT25 cannot do for Comfortably Numb

The record runs a compressor and a fuzz together, an MXR Dyna Comp into the Big Muff. On the LT25, COMPRESSOR, which Fender says is inspired by the Dyna Comp, and BIG FUZZ are both STOMP effects, and a preset has one STOMP slot. BIG FUZZ is the one to keep: it carries the sustain.

How to store it on the LT25

Press SAVE once it sounds right. Fender's manual says an unsaved edit reverts when you leave the preset or switch the amp off. Master Volume is not stored in a preset.
